Born in Montreal, Cullen’s career began in Canadian television and radio, eventually becoming one of the entertainment industry’s most recognizable voices. He first lent his voice to Optimus Prime in the 1984 animated Transformers series, a role he reprised in seven Hollywood films from 2007 to 2023, along with various related spin-offs. His portrayal of the gentle yet strong Autobot leader became a cornerstone of the Transformers franchise.
Cullen also endeared himself to audiences as the voice of Eeyore, the beloved gloomy donkey from the Winnie the Pooh series. He voiced Eeyore in The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, along with numerous other television shows, films, and video games associated with the franchise. His ability to convey Eeyore’s melancholic charm further cemented his status as a versatile voice actor.
In addition to these roles, Cullen voiced KARR, the villainous counterpart to KITT, in the classic TV show Knight Rider.
