In a bid to enhance ties and review business initiatives, Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Nguyễn Minh Vũ led a delegation on a visit to the Cambodian provinces of Stung Treng and Kratie. This visit aimed to bolster cooperation between Vietnamese and northeastern Cambodian localities, while also evaluating the conditions of the Vietnamese-origin community residing there.

Discussions during meetings with local leaders focused on expanding collaboration across various sectors, including trade, agriculture, infrastructure, energy, and investment. Cambodian officials acknowledged the strengthening of ties with Vietnamese provinces through cooperation agreements, business exchanges, and development initiatives. In particular, Kratie province lauded the progress achieved in diplomatic and socio-economic cooperation with Vietnam, highlighting infrastructure development support and joint efforts in repatriating the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers who perished during the Cambodian conflict.

Ambassador Nguyễn Minh Vũ expressed appreciation for the Vietnamese companies involved in Cambodia’s agriculture, mining, and rubber production sectors, noting that these enterprises have significantly contributed to local economic growth and reinforced bilateral relations. In Stung Treng, local authorities underscored the province’s potential in high-tech agriculture and eco-tourism, urging more Vietnamese businesses to explore investment opportunities in the area.

Aside from economic discussions, the ambassador engaged with representatives of the Vietnamese-origin community to address legal and livelihood issues. He encouraged compliance with local laws and emphasized the importance of supporting education and sustainable development within the community. Vietnam’s investment footprint in Cambodia is substantial, with over 200 projects and a total registered capital of approximately $3 billion, positioning Vietnam as one of Cambodia’s largest foreign investors.
