Police forces from Vietnam’s Tây Ninh Province and Cambodia’s Svay Rieng, Prey Veng, and Tboung Khmum provinces have formalized a new agreement to bolster their collaboration in maintaining security and public order along their shared border. This decision was made during a conference held in Tây Ninh on Friday, where officials reviewed past cooperation and strategized on future efforts to combat cross-border crime.

The four provincial police forces emphasized the need for improved coordination to effectively tackle criminal activities that plague the border regions. These activities include drug trafficking, human trafficking, smuggling, money laundering, and online fraud. Officials highlighted the importance of direct communication and regular meetings to facilitate the rapid exchange of information and quick resolution of cases.

In addition to enhancing information sharing, the agreement includes plans to intensify patrols and monitoring of border trails and crossings. This measure aims to prevent illegal entry and exit that could lead to organized transnational crime. The forces also intend to bolster their efforts against terrorism, arms trafficking, and high-tech crime, addressing both traditional and emerging security threats.

The conference concluded with the signing of a cooperation memorandum, underscoring the commitment of the involved parties to strengthen crime prevention efforts and maintain stability in the border areas. This renewed focus on collaboration is expected to enhance the effectiveness of law enforcement operations along the Vietnam-Cambodia border, ensuring a more secure environment for both countries.
