Cambodia and Cuba have formalized their commitment to enhancing tourism cooperation through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The agreement, penned by Cambodian Tourism Minister Huot Hak and Cuba’s Ambassador to Cambodia Milena Caridad Zaldívar Piedra, took place in Siem Reap province.

The MoU is designed to establish a collaborative framework between the tourism authorities of both nations. This partnership aims to foster tourism development, promote the exchange of knowledge and experience, and expand Cambodia’s tourism reach into Latin American markets. The agreement is rooted in the principles of equality and mutual benefit, seeking to open new opportunities for both countries in the tourism sector.

The signing of this agreement marks a continuation of the longstanding diplomatic relations between Cambodia and Cuba, which were first established in 1960. Both countries have maintained strong bilateral ties over the decades, and this MoU represents a significant step in strengthening those relations further.

The collaboration is expected to provide a platform for the two nations to learn from each other’s experiences in tourism management and development. By sharing strategies and insights, Cambodia and Cuba aim to enhance their tourism offerings and attract more visitors from diverse regions, including Latin America.
