by admin477351

Asian stock markets presented a mixed performance on Thursday as investors navigated shifts in oil prices, U.S. Treasury yields, and currency exchanges amidst ongoing inflation worries. Japan’s Nikkei 225 saw a rise of 1.3% in morning trading, buoyed by gains in technology and chip stocks, driven by interest in artificial intelligence. Conversely, Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 decreased by 0.7%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index fell by 0.5%, and the Shanghai Composite dropped 0.8%. South Korean markets were closed for the Chuseok holiday.

Oil prices experienced a decline, with U.S. crude falling by 0.82% to $91.40 per barrel and Brent crude slipping 0.83% to $102.22. The persistent high oil prices continue to spark concerns about inflation and its potential impact on economic growth.

In the U.S., stock markets faced downward pressure in the previous session due to rising Treasury yields. The S&P 500 declined by 0.8%, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell by 0.7%, and the Nasdaq Composite dropped by 1.1%. The yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury increased to 5.10%, reflecting ongoing concerns over inflation, government debt, and economic activity, with higher borrowing costs potentially impacting stock valuations and economic growth.

In the currency markets, the U.S. dollar edged down to 157.94 Japanese yen, while the euro remained largely stable at approximately $1.1382.
